Children cheers Mumbai Indians with Nita Ambani

Mumbai witnessed an extraordinary evening on Sunday as 19,000 underprivileged children cheered for the Mumbai Indians during their match against the Lucknow Super Giants at the historic Wankhede Stadium.

Dressed in the iconic blue Mumbai Indians jerseys, the children filled the stadium with electrifying energy, celebrating every wicket and boundary.

Reliance Foundation Organises ESA Day Match

The special event was organised by the Reliance Foundation’s initiative, Education and Sports for All (ESA), spearheaded by Nita Ambani.

ESA arranged match tickets, transportation, and meals for the children, many of whom were experiencing a live cricket match for the first time.

Nita Ambani Celebrates Dreams And Hopes

Nita M Ambani, Chairperson of Reliance Foundation, described the occasion as more than just a match. “It is a celebration of hope, dreams, and happiness,” she said.

Nita Ambani interacted warmly with the children, sharing moments of inspiration. She recalled a young girl expressing her dream of becoming like Jasprit Bumrah and her wish to shake hands with Rohit Sharma.

“If we fulfil these small hopes, they can truly reach the stars,” Ambani remarked, emphasising the need for parents to support their children’s dreams in sports and education alike.

Massive Logistics Ensure A Smooth Event

Organising the event involved meticulous planning.

Reliance Foundation arranged around 500 buses to safely transport the children to and from the stadium. They also distributed over 100,000 food boxes, ensuring no child went hungry during the celebration.

ESA’s Growing Impact Across India

Since its launch in 2010, the ESA program has become a cornerstone of Reliance Foundation’s sports initiatives.

Over the years, it has impacted the lives of more than 23 million children and youth across India.

Through events like ESA Day, the foundation continues to inspire and empower the next generation by combining education with the power of sports.
