A day after the devastating terror attack in Pahalgam that plunged Kashmir into mourning and drew national outrage, Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Wednesday paid homage to the victims at a solemn wreath-laying ceremony outside the Police Control Room in Srinagar.
Taking to X, Shah posted, “With a heavy heart, paid last respects to the deceased of the Pahalgam terror attack. Bharat will not bend to terror. The culprits of this dastardly terror attack will not be spared.”

Tuesday’s attack on innocent tourists ranks among the deadliest since the abrogation of Article 370 in 2019.
The tragedy has sent shockwaves across the country, uniting people in grief and condemnation.
Soon after arriving in Srinagar on Tuesday evening, Shah chaired a high-level security review meeting with senior officials and agency heads.
He reaffirmed that those responsible for the ‘dastardly act’ would face the full force of the law and updated Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the situation.
Taking to X, Shah posted, “Anguished by the terror attack on tourists in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir. My thoughts are with the family members of the deceased. Those involved in this dastardly act of terror will not be spared, and we will come down heavily on the perpetrators with the harshest consequences.”
“Briefed PM Shri @narendramodi Ji about the incident and held a meeting with the concerned officials via video conferencing. Will shortly leave for Srinagar to hold an urgent security review meeting with all the agencies,” the post further added.

PM Modi Cuts Short Saudi Trip
In response to the incident, Prime Minister Modi returned to Delhi, cutting short his official visit to Saudi Arabia.
Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman had invited PM Modi on a two-day trip.
Immediately upon landing at Palam Airport, the Prime Minister, however, held a briefing with External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri, and other senior officials to assess the situation in Kashmir.
In the Valley, political parties and trade associations have declared a complete shutdown on Wednesday.
The move is a mark of collective grief and an expression of unity with the families of the victims, as well as a clear denunciation of the violence.
