The Rouse Avenue Court has summoned a report from the Director General (DG) of Tihar Jail regarding the conduct of Christian James Michel, the alleged middleman involved in the AgustaWestland helicopter scam case.

Michel, currently lodged in Tihar Jail, filed a petition requesting the court to review his behavior during the six years he has spent in custody.

Court Orders Jail Report And Sets Hearing Date

Special Judge Sanjeev Agarwal has issued a notice to the Tihar Jail DG, instructing the submission of a report on Michel’s conduct during his incarceration.

The court will next hear the case on March 18.

Michel’s petition demands that the jail administration provide a detailed report on his behavior over the past six years of detention.

In a separate development, just a day before, the court directed the Tihar Jail administration to allow Michel to apply for passport renewal as part of the conditions of his bail.

Michel has previously expressed reluctance to leave the jail, citing concerns for his safety.

During the last hearing, he mentioned that he views Delhi as ‘just a big prison’ and stated that his family cannot come to the city.

Michel’s Desire To Leave The Country After Sentence

Michel has reiterated his intention to leave the country upon completing his sentence. He emphasized that his primary goal is to return home once his legal obligations are fulfilled.

The ongoing legal proceedings reflect the complex nature of the case involving Michel and other key figures in the AgustaWestland scandal.
