Henkel, the Germany-based global leader in chemicals and consumer goods, is significantly expanding its presence in India’s electronics sector.
The company has inaugurated a new Application Engineering Centre in Chennai and a state-of-the-art adhesive materials manufacturing plant in Kurkumbh, near Pune, as part of its commitment to supporting India’s growing electronics industry.
Chennai Facility To Drive Innovation And Speed To Market
Henkel has opened a new 17,000-square-foot centre in Chennai to boost its ability to introduce new products and reduce time-to-market for customers.
The facility features five specialized labs that focus on developing advanced adhesive solutions and thermal management materials, essential for enhancing the reliability, durability, and design of electronic devices such as smartphones and wearables.

S Sunil Kumar, Country President of Henkel India, emphasized the company’s dedication to India’s ‘Make in India’ initiative, stating, “As the country solidifies its position as a global electronics manufacturing hub, Henkel is proud to reinforce its commitment and be a key partner in this journey.”
Kurkumbh Plant To Boost Adhesives And Coatings Production
In addition to the Chennai centre, Henkel’s new plant in Kurkumbh will bolster the company’s production capabilities for high-performance adhesives and coatings. The expansion will play a key role in meeting the increasing demand for advanced materials in the electronics industry. Henkel’s Corporate Vice President of Electronics, Henkel Adhesive Technologies, noted, “We have had established operations in India for a long time, and with customers intensifying their operations in the region, we are investing in additional local capabilities to deliver collaborative new product introduction (NPI) and product validation expertise with more immediacy.”
Supporting India’s Electronics Growth Amid Government Initiatives
India’s electronics industry is poised for significant growth in the coming years, fueled by key government initiatives such as the “Make in India” campaign and the Production-Linked Incentive (PLI) schemes. Henkel’s strategic investments in both the Chennai and Kurkumbh facilities align with these initiatives, reinforcing the company’s role in driving innovation and supporting the rapid expansion of the country’s electronics sector.
