US President Donald Trump warmly welcomed Prime Minister Narendra Modi to the White House, marking a significant moment in their longstanding friendship. As the two leaders met in the Oval Office, Trump presented PM Modi with a signed copy of his book, Our Journey Together, and said, “You are great.”
The meeting began with a heartfelt hug between the two leaders, and Trump expressed his delight in welcoming Modi back to the White House. “I am delighted to see you back,” PM Modi told Trump, signaling the strong bond they share.

The joint press conference also included a thoughtful gift from Trump, a framed photo of his 2020 visit to India, during which he toured the Taj Mahal.
Reflecting on their connection, Trump spoke highly of Modi’s hospitality during his trip to India, saying, “He is a special man,” and expressed his happiness in reciprocating that hospitality. The two leaders also took time to recall their previous meetings and continued their warm exchange.
Trump and Modi’s friendship was further highlighted when the US President remarked, “We missed you, we missed you a lot,” during their reunion. To which PM Modi responded, “It’s great to see you again,” indicating that the camaraderie between the two remains as strong as ever.
Collaborating With Key Officials
During the visit, Trump introduced PM Modi to several key US officials, including US Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Elon Musk, the head of the US Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).
Ahead of the meeting, the White House displayed Indian flags to honor the Prime Minister’s arrival. This marks Modi’s first official meeting with Trump after the latter’s re-election, and the two have continued their close relationship following their initial bond established during Trump’s previous tenure.
PM Modi’s Busy Itinerary
Before he met with President Trump, PM Modi had a series of bilateral discussions with US National Security Advisor Mike Waltz, Tesla CEO Elon Musk, Indian-origin entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy, and US Director of National Intelligence (DNI) Tulsi Gabbard. These meetings underscored the growing collaboration between India and the US across various sectors, including technology and national security.
This visit marks one of the first world leader meetings held at the White House following President Trump’s inauguration. The warm welcome and meaningful exchanges between the two leaders highlight the strong and growing relationship between the United States and India.
