On Monday, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, accompanied by his family, took a holy dip at the Triveni Sangam in Prayagraj, marking his participation in the ongoing Maha Kumbh Mela. The event, a significant religious gathering, has been attracting millions of devotees from across the nation and abroad since its commencement on January 13. The Mela will continue until February 26.
Dhami arrived in Prayagraj on Sunday and visited the Uttarakhand Mandapam, a dedicated space for devotees from his state. During his visit, he shared his thoughts on the upcoming Uniform Civil Code (UCC) in Uttarakhand, expressing confidence in its potential to foster equality, development, and social justice.
On social media, Dhami stated, “I have full faith that this Ganga of UCC flowing from Uttarakhand will open new doors of equality, development, and social justice in the entire country in the coming times. This step will also prove to be important in achieving the resolution of ‘Viksit Bharat.'”
Uttarakhand Leads With UCC Implementation
The Chief Minister also attended the ‘Sammanta ke Saath Samrasata’ program, where he addressed dignitaries from various states and received blessings from revered sants and gurus.
Dhami emphasized that under the inspiration of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Uttarakhand has become the first state to implement the Uniform Civil Code. “With the blessings of revered sants and god-like people, and the inspiration of respected Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Uttarakhand has become the first state in the country to implement the UCC,” he declared.
Dignitaries Continue To Attend The Maha Kumbh
The Maha Kumbh Mela has seen a continuous influx of political figures. On Sunday, Sikkim Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang and Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar both took dip in the Triveni Sangam. Both leaders expressed gratitude for the Uttar Pradesh government’s arrangements, with Tamang lauding the event’s emphasis on peace and unity.
“This is an event everyone should visit at least once in their lifetime,” he said. D.K. Shivakumar also praised the extensive preparations made for the pilgrims.
Earlier in the week, on Thursday, Manipur Chief Minister N. Biren Singh, Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Saini, and Haryana BJP Chief Mohan Lal Badoli also took part in the ritual, commending the government’s efforts.
Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma and Deputy Chief Minister Diya Kumari were present, while Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav performed the sacred dip on Saturday with his family.
Spiritual Significance Of Triveni Sangam
The Triveni Sangam, the sacred confluence of the Ganges, Yamuna, and the mythical Saraswati rivers, is revered for its spiritual significance and is considered one of the holiest sites in Hinduism.
The ongoing Maha Kumbh Mela, held in Prayagraj, continues to draw millions of pilgrims, reinforcing its place as one of the largest and most important religious gatherings globally.
President Murmu’s Upcoming Visit
Later today, President Droupadi Murmu is expected to visit the Maha Kumbh. Security arrangements have been enhanced in anticipation of her visit, ensuring the safety and smooth conduct of the event.
As the Mela progresses, more political leaders are expected to join the pilgrimage, further showcasing the event’s national significance.
