Noida Police Arrests Suspected Criminal After Gunfight, Recovers Stolen Motorcycle

The police recovered a .315-bore illegal firearm, one live cartridge, one spent cartridge, and a stolen motorcycle with registration number HR 29 Y 9781 from the suspect.

In a swift operation on January 18, 2025, Sector-126 Noida police intercepted a suspicious motorcyclist along Pushta Road during a routine check. As officers signaled the rider to halt, he attempted to speed away, prompting a high-speed chase to apprehend the fleeing individual.

During the pursuit, the suspect fired at the police team with an illegal weapon, intending to harm them. In response, the police fired back in self-defense, injuring the assailant. The injured individual was promptly arrested and later identified as Suraj Tiwari, also known as Rahul, a 29-year-old resident of B-1/1089, JJ Colony, Madanpur Khadar, Kalindi Kunj, Delhi.

The police recovered a .315-bore illegal firearm, one live cartridge, one spent cartridge, and a stolen motorcycle with registration number HR 29 Y 9781 from the suspect. During questioning, Tiwari revealed that the bike had been stolen from Delhi. An E-FIR had already been registered at the Govindpuri police station in South East Delhi for the theft.

Tiwari was immediately taken to the hospital for treatment of his gunshot wounds. The police are gathering more information on his criminal history and proceeding with legal action.

The suspect has an extensive criminal record with involvement in various cases, including theft, armed robbery, and even murder. A summary of his criminal history is as follows:

  6. Case No. 349/19 – Sections 302/397/411/34 IPC, Sarita Vihar Police Station, Delhi
  7. Case No. 33511/19 – Section 379 IPC, Kalkaji Police Station, Delhi
  8. Case No. 747/18 – Sections 27/61/85 of the NDPS Act, Jaitpur Police Station, Delhi
  9. Case No. 43/24 – Sections 380/457/411 IPC, Kalindi Kunj Police Station, Delhi
  10. Case No. 036895 – Section 305(B) IPC, Govindpuri Police Station, South East District, Delhi.

Authorities are continuing their investigation and are taking further legal action against the arrested individual.
