Congress MPs Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra expressed their deep grief over the tragic loss of security personnel in a brutal Maoist attack in Chhattisgarh on Monday. The attack, which occurred in Bijapur, led to the deaths of eight District Reserve Guard (DRG) jawans and one driver when their vehicle was targeted by an IED blast.
Rahul Gandhi Pays Tribute To The Martyrs
Rahul Gandhi, in a post on X, shared his sorrow, stating, “I am deeply saddened to hear about the cowardly Naxalite attack in Bijapur, Chhattisgarh, which led to the martyrdom of several of our soldiers and a vehicle driver.” He further extended his condolences to the families of the victims, adding, “I pay my heartfelt tribute to the martyrs and wish a speedy recovery to the injured soldiers. In this difficult time, my thoughts are with the grieving families.”

Gandhi also raised concerns about the increasing martyrdom of soldiers, emphasizing, “The entire nation stands united against terrorism and violence. The increasing martyrdom of soldiers raises serious questions about the government’s ability to maintain national security.”
Priyanka Gandhi Condemns The Attack And Offers Condolences
Priyanka Gandhi Vadra also shared her condolences in a post on X, saying, “The news of the martyrdom of a large number of soldiers in the Naxalite attack in Bijapur, Chhattisgarh, is deeply saddening. The entire nation stands united against terrorism and condemns it in the strongest terms.” She added, “May God grant peace to the departed souls. My heartfelt condolences to the grieving families. I wish for the speedy recovery of the injured.”

Details Of The Attack And Aftermath
The Maoist attack occurred when an IED targeted a vehicle carrying security personnel. In total, at least nine people lost their lives, including the eight DRG jawans from Dantewada and the driver. The attack comes just days after security forces clashed with Maoists in Bastar, resulting in the deaths of five insurgents.

On Sunday, four rebels were found dead, and one more body was recovered later. Authorities are now investigating both incidents as part of ongoing security operations in the region.
