Rouse Avenue Court To Hear AAP MLA Naresh Balyan’s Bail Plea In MCOCA Case On January 4

Delhi Police arrested Balyan under MCOCA on December 4, the same day he received bail in an extortion case.

MCOCA Case

The Rouse Avenue Court will hear the bail plea of Aam Aadmi Party MLA Naresh Balyan, arrested under the Maharashtra Control of Organized Crime Act (MCOCA), on January 4. Special Judge Kaveri Baveja was on leave today, which delayed the scheduled hearing.

During the previous hearing, the court issued a notice to Delhi Police, directing them to respond to Balyan’s bail plea. Besides Naresh Balyan, other accused in the case include Hrithik alias Peter, Rohit alias Anna, and Sachin Chikara. On December 13, the court sent Balyan to judicial custody until January 9.

Delhi Police arrested Balyan under MCOCA on December 4, the same day he received bail in an extortion case. The Delhi High Court had recently ordered the transfer of related cases against Balyan from the Dwarka Court to the Rouse Avenue Court. This decision came after hearing a petition by Delhi Police.

Earlier, the special MP/MLA court refused to grant further police remand for Balyan in the extortion case. Instead, it sent him to judicial custody until January 9.

Alleged Links Between Balyan and Gangster Kapil Sangwan

According to Delhi Police, the case stems from a 2023 conversation between Naresh Balyan and gangster Kapil Sangwan. An FIR was lodged the same year.

Kapil Sangwan, a resident of Najafgarh like Balyan, is a notorious gangster currently living in Britain. He is accused in multiple cases, including the Haryana Nafe Singh murder and the killings of Ballu Pehelwan and BJP leader Surendra Matiala.
