On Saturday, Bhopal witnessed yet another high-profile discovery as the Lokayukta team raided the residence of a former Transport Department constable, recovering 40 kilograms of silver along with bundles of cash.
Income tax officials conducted a major recovery on Thursday night, seizing 52 kilograms of gold worth approximately Rs 40 crore and Rs 9.86 crore in cash from an abandoned car in the city.

Providing details of the incident, Priyanka Shukla, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP, Bhopal Zone-1) stated, “On Thursday night, we received information that there is an abandoned car near Mendori-Kushalpur road under Ratibad police station limits. Acting on it, the police reached the spot and found that there were around seven or eight bags inside the car. Officials suspected that due to the raid action of IT and other departments in the last few days, someone might have left its property there.”

The officer also stated that the Income Tax department was alerted about the incident, prompting officials to arrive at the scene, break the vehicle’s glass, and retrieve the bags from inside.
Speaking to ANI, she further asserted that officials checked the bags and recovered approximately 52 kg of gold worth around Rs 40 crores and Rs 9.86 crores in cash. The IT department is taking further action.
