Former Union Minister and BJP MP Anurag Thakur, along with MPs Bansuri Swaraj and Hemang Joshi, filed an Attempt To Murder complaint against Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Thursday. The complaint alleges that Gandhi pushed and injured BJP MPs during a heated confrontation at the Parliament premises.
The complaint, submitted at Sansad Marg police station, cites sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita related to criminal intimidation, negligence endangering life, voluntarily causing hurt, and use of criminal force.
BJP Alleges Assault by Rahul Gandhi
Anurag Thakur accused Rahul Gandhi of injuring BJP MPs Mukesh Rajput and Pratap Chandra Sarangi during a protest near the Makar Dwar entrance of Parliament.
“Rahul Gandhi pushed BJP MPs, causing two of them to be hospitalized,” Thakur said. He described the incident as “unfortunate” and claimed Gandhi’s actions reflect arrogance and disregard for the law.
“Mukesh Rajput sustained a head injury, and Pratap Chandra Sarangi was also hurt. Gandhi ignored security personnel’s directions, which could have prevented the confrontation,” he added.
PM Modi Inquires About Injured MPs
Prime Minister Narendra Modi personally reached out to injured BJP MPs after the incident. He called Sarangi and Rajput to check on their health and assured them of full support.
Thakur also accused the Congress of repeated disrespect toward B.R. Ambedkar. “While NDA MPs protested peacefully, Rahul Gandhi and Congress MPs forcibly confronted them, escalating the situation unnecessarily,” he said.
The complaint has intensified tensions between the BJP and Congress amidst ongoing protests in Parliament.
