On Thursday, Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra officially sworn in as a Member of Parliament (MP) in the Lok Sabha.

Holding a copy of the Constitution, she took the oath in the presence of her family, including her mother, Sonia Gandhi, brother Rahul Gandhi, and her children, Raihan and Miraya Vadra.

Priyanka Gandhi secured a decisive victory in the Wayanad Lok Sabha seat, winning by a margin of 4,10,931 votes.

She defeated Sathyan Mokeri of the Communist Party of India (CPI) in a keenly contested triangular race, which also included BJP’s Navya Haridas.

Wayanad, traditionally a Congress stronghold, was the focal point of this high-profile election.

Earlier on Wednesday, Congress leaders from Wayanad formally handed over Priyanka’s election certificate in New Delhi, extending their best wishes for her new role.

Rahul Gandhi celebrated the moment, offering sweets to Priyanka following the ceremony.

Priyanka Gandhi Expresses Gratitude, Says, “Wayanad’s Trust Means Everything”

Expressing gratitude for the overwhelming support, taking to X, Priyanka Gandhi posted, “My colleagues from Wayanad brought my certificate of election today. For me, it is not just a document, it is a symbol of your love, trust, and the values we are committed to. Thank you Wayanad, for choosing me to take forward this journey to build a better future for yourselves.”

Her brother, Rahul Gandhi, had previously held the Wayanad seat but vacated it after securing a seat in Raebareli during this year’s general elections.

Congress leader Ravindra Vasantrao Chavan swore in as an MP after winning the Nanded Lok Sabha seat in a by-election.

Chavan triumphed with 5,86,788 votes following the death of the former Congress MP, Vasantrao Balwantrao Chavan.

The by-elections, which included 48 assembly seats and two Lok Sabha seats across 15 states, highlighted significant political developments, with Uttar Pradesh and Wayanad emerging as key battlegrounds.
