Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended heartfelt wishes to the nation on Tuesday, marking the 75th Constitution Day. The day commemorates the adoption of the Indian Constitution by the Constituent Assembly on November 26, 1949. Celebrated as Samvidhan Divas, the occasion underscores India’s commitment to justice, liberty, equality, and fraternity.
On social media platform X, PM Modi shared his message:
“Happy Constitution Day to all countrymen on the auspicious occasion of the 75th anniversary of the Indian Constitution.”
Constitution as India’s “Guiding Light”
In a video message, PM Modi reflected on the Constitution’s significance, describing it as a “modern expression of India’s unbroken civilisational tradition.” He emphasized the opening words, “We the people,” calling them a profound “promise, call, and belief” in India’s democratic roots.
The Prime Minister lauded the Constitution’s role as a guiding light, steering the nation forward.
Union Leaders Join the Tributes
Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh also marked the day with messages celebrating the Constitution’s enduring legacy.
Amit Shah praised the architects of the Constitution, including Dr. BR Ambedkar, and reiterated the document’s role in ensuring justice, equality, and national unity.
“The strength of democracy in a vast country like India is our Constitution,” Shah wrote. He urged citizens to internalize the Constitution’s principles to build a “strong, prosperous, and self-reliant India.”
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh echoed similar sentiments, paying tribute to the visionaries behind the Constitution.
“The Indian Constitution has laid the foundation for the creation of a new India,” he wrote, emphasizing the nation’s progress towards becoming developed, strong, and self-reliant.
