One soldier injured in a terrorist attack on an Army vehicle in the Botapathri region of Gulmarg, Jammu and Kashmir, succumbed to his injuries in a hospital on Friday.
This brings the total fatalities from the attack to five, raising concerns over the escalating violence in the area.
The attack occurred on Thursday when terrorists targeted a vehicle belonging to the Rashtriya Rifles (RR) at Nagin Chowk in Botapathri.
According to official reports, the soldier’s condition deteriorated following the incident, leading to his untimely death in medical care.
LG Holds Unified Meeting To Address Security After Terror Attack
Additionally, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha convened a Unified Headquarters Meeting (UHQ) on Thursday to assess the security situation across the Union Territory.
The UHQ, which consists of senior officials from the Army, Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs), local law enforcement, and intelligence agencies, aims to bolster safety measures in the region.
Taking to X, LG Sinha posted, “Spoke to top army officials on heinous terror attack in Butapathri Sector. Directed for swift & befitting reply to neutralise terrorists. Operation in progress. Sacrifice of our martyrs will not go in vain. Condolences to their families. Praying for speedy recovery of injured.”

Chief Minister Omar Abdullah also expressed his sorrow over the incident.
He further stated, “Very unfortunate news about the attack on the army vehicles in the Boota Pathri area of North Kashmir which has resulted in some casualties & injuries. This recent spate of attacks in Kashmir is a matter of serious concern. I condemn this attack is the strongest possible terms & send my condolences to the loved ones of the people who lost their lives. I also pray that injured make a complete & swift recovery.”

Earlier the same day, another incident occurred in the Batgund Tral area of Pulwama district, where terrorists shot and injured a labourer named Pritam Singh from Uttar Pradesh. Fortunately, the laborer sustained only minor injuries.
The recent attack marks a troubling shift in an area that has been relatively peaceful, especially considering that Gulmarg and its surrounding areas like Botapathri are popular tourist destinations, attracting nature enthusiasts from all over.
The rise in violence raises urgent questions about safety in these previously tranquil locations, with both locals and visitors now on high alert.
