The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has filed a chargesheet against Gurpreet Singh, also known as Gopi, a key associate of Khalistani terrorists Rinda and Landa, in a Punjab terror conspiracy case. The charges were submitted on Monday to the NIA Special Court in Mohali.

Gurpreet, from Tarn Taran in Punjab, has been identified as an associate of designated terrorists Harwinder Singh Sandhu (Rinda) and Lakhbir Singh (Landa), both associated with the banned terrorist organization Babbar Khalsa International (BKI).

Investigations reveal that Gurpreet played a significant role in a conspiracy orchestrated by BKI terrorists aimed at instilling terror in Punjab and other parts of India. Notably, he was involved in the RPG attack on the Sarhali police station in December 2022. Evidence indicates that he maintained contact with his foreign handlers both during and after his imprisonment.

The NIA’s investigation further uncovered that Gurpreet conspired to raise funds for BKI and its operatives in India by extorting money from local businessmen on Landa’s instructions. Additionally, he recruited vulnerable youth for the BKI terror module, conducted reconnaissance on identified targets, and attempted to eliminate those targets.

During a search operation in January, the NIA seized an illegal weapon from Gurpreet’s residence. He has now been charged under various sections of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, the Indian Penal Code, and the Arms Act.

The case, identified as RC-21/2023/NIA/DLI, remains under investigation.

In a related development in August, the NIA made significant progress against the pro-Khalistan terror network by arresting a key aide of Rinda and Landa. The agency successfully extradited Landa’s brother, Tarsem Singh, from the UAE. Tarsem, who has been wanted since June 2023, was described as a critical member of the BKI and an important connection to the designated terrorists in the UAE.

The NIA continues its efforts to dismantle the Khalistani terror network and bring those involved to justice.
