Emphasizing July summit in Moscow, Modi stated that this visit would reinforce Strategic Partnership between India and Russia. He looks forward to engaging with fellow leaders from BRICS.

This summit marks the first gathering since the group expanded to nine members, with Egypt, Iran, Ethiopia, and the UAE joining after the 2023 summit in South Africa. The theme for this year’s summit is “Strengthening Multilateralism for Just Global Development and Security,” providing a crucial platform for leaders to discuss pressing global issues.

During his visit, Modi is expected to hold bilateral meetings with counterparts from BRICS member countries and invited leaders. According to Russian presidential aide Yury Ushakov, the Kazan summit will host leaders from 24 countries, making it the largest foreign policy event in Russia’s history.

Additionally, there will be BRICS+ meetings focused on “BRICS and the Global South: Building the Future of the World Together.” This will involve representatives from Asia, Africa, the Middle East, and Latin America.

Notable attendees include UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres and leaders from aspirant countries. The countries include such as Turkey’s President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Azerbaijan’s President Ilham Aliyev. The summit promises to be a significant event in international diplomacy.
