As the results of the Haryana assembly elections were announced on Tuesday, an old photo of Prime Minister Narendra Modi campaigning for joint candidate Devidas has gone viral on social media. The image dates back to a time when Modi was a grassroots worker for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
The photo, shared on the ‘Modi Archive’ Instagram account, features PM Modi seated on stage with other leaders. A banner in the background reads, “Make BJP and INLD’s joint candidate Devidas victorious from Sonipat assembly constituency.”

The resurgence of this photo coincides with BJP’s projected success in Haryana, where the party is on track to achieve a historic third consecutive term. Early trends show BJP securing more than 46 seats in the state assembly.
The post accompanying the photo highlights Modi’s dedication, stating, “Narendra Modi has dedicated his entire life to building a huge support base from the ground to the top. His lifelong dedication reflects in the historic mandate he and the BJP receive election after election.” Social media users have been actively reacting to the viral image.
Babu Devidas, the candidate in the photo, was a three-time MLA from Sonipat, first elected in 1977 and re-elected in 1982 and 1987. Notably, during a 2014 rally, PM Modi recognized Devidas and inquired about his well-being. Throughout Modi’s tenure, he maintained a close relationship with Devidas, inviting him to his swearing-in ceremonies as Chief Minister of Gujarat on all three occasions.
