Five Family Members Die In Mumbai Building Fire

A tragic fire in a North Mumbai shop claimed the lives of five family members, who burned to death while sleeping, and left two others injured, according to the BMC Disaster Control.

The fire erupted around 5:15 a.m. in Sidharth Colony, Chembur. Locals spotted the flames and quickly alerted the Fire Brigade, which responded promptly.

The blaze, whose cause remains unknown, started in a ground-floor shop and rapidly spread to the electrical wiring and household items. The flames then engulfed the upper floor, where the family was asleep, leading to asphyxiation.

The victims were rushed to Rajawadi Hospital but were declared dead upon arrival. They have been identified as Anita Gupta (39), Prem Gupta (30), Manju Prem Gupta (30), Paras Gupta (7), and Narendra Gupta (10).

Authorities are investigating the cause of the fire, and further details are awaited.

In a separate incident on Saturday, a massive fire destroyed an entire warehouse near Mumbai. The V Logistics warehouse in Bhiwandi taluka, about 40 km from the city, caught fire Friday night, consuming a large quantity of hydraulic oil, cloth, plastic items, and chemicals. Fortunately, no injuries were reported in that incident.
