The Delhi High Court rejected Sukesh Chandrashekhar’s plea challenging his transfer from Mandoli Jail. The alleged conman argued that his transfer would disrupt his ongoing medical treatment. However, the court found no compelling reason to prevent the transfer if required for administrative purposes.
Sukesh’s Plea on Health Grounds
Sukesh, currently housed in Mandoli Jail No. 13, claimed he has been suffering from various health issues since 2020, including gallstones. He argued that his treatment at Safdarjung and RML Hospitals would be hindered if he were transferred to another jail. Sukesh also claimed that he is receiving psychiatric care and moving him could affect his treatment.
Court’s Reasoning on Medical Care
Justice Neena Bansal Krishna, who delivered the ruling, stated that Sukesh is already receiving adequate care for his physical ailments at external hospitals. The court further noted that similar psychiatric treatment is available in Tihar Central Jail, dismissing his concerns. The ruling emphasized that administrative transfers should not be obstructed unless there is a clear case of malafide intent, which was not evident in this case.
