A devastating fire at Antai Tian-sheng Memorial Hospital in Pingtung County, Taiwan, has resulted in eight fatalities, according to local media reports. The incident occurred on Thursday morning.
The Pingtung County government confirmed that the victims, six men and two women, showed no signs of life after being rescued from the fire scene. Despite emergency resuscitation efforts, they were declared dead.

The local fire department responded to reports of thick smoke rising from the hospital at 7:41 a.m., as noted by the Xinhua news agency.
Su Ching-chyuan, the hospital’s honorary dean, stated that the fire originated from the combustion of an air compressor in the hospital’s machine room. Most of the victims were elderly patients who had been hospitalized.
Rescue personnel reported that the fire is now under control. Emergency services continue to assess the situation as investigations into the cause of the fire proceed.
