A 5.2-magnitude earthquake struck Bojnurd County in Iran’s North Khorasan province on Sunday, injuring at least 28 people.

According to the Iranian Seismology Centre, the quake hit at 16:13 local time, with a depth of 8 km. It followed four foreshocks, including tremors measuring 4.7 and 4.1 in magnitude.

The majority of injuries reported were fractures and psychological trauma. Taqi Dolatabadi, head of the provincial medical emergency and disaster management department, stated that 18 individuals received initial treatment, while some remained under medical care.

In response to the earthquake, all medical emergency personnel, centers, and rapid reaction teams across the province were placed on high alert, as reported by the official news agency IRNA.
