Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the 20.8 km Phase II of the Ahmedabad Metro Rail Project on Monday. He also traveled on the metro and engaged with young commuters. Accompanied by Gujarat Governor Acharya Devvrat and Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, Modi shared his metro experience on social media, highlighting the new phase’s connectivity.

The Phase II extension, costing Rs 3,284 crore, expands the North-South Metro Corridor from APMC to Mahatma Mandir, adding an 8 km segment with eight new stations.

This includes a 15.4 km viaduct with stations at GNLU, Raysan, Randesan, Dholakuva Circle, Infocity, and Sector 1, plus a 5.4 km link to GIFT City with stations at PDEU and GIFT City. This development aims to improve commuting between Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar with a faster, safer transit option.
