Typhoon Yagi has caused severe damage in Vietnam, with 65 dead and 39 missing as of Tuesday morning, according to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development.
The typhoon and ensuing floods and landslides have injured 752 people. Quang Ninh province and Hai Phong city were hit hardest, with 536 and 81 injuries respectively.

In addition, water levels in the Thao River in Lao Cai and Yen Bai provinces exceeded historic records from 1968 and 2008 by one meter due to Typhoon Yagi. Hanoi has also been affected, with the Bui and Cau rivers reaching the highest warning level, causing widespread flooding in the city.
In response, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has allocated $4 million from the 2024 central budget reserve to support the five most affected provinces.
