Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk has expressed his willingness to serve the country if Donald Trump wins the US presidential election in November. This comes after Trump indicated he would consider Musk for a cabinet role or an advisory position.
On Tuesday, Musk posted “I am willing to serve” on the social media platform X. This followed Trump’s remarks about potentially including Musk in his administration if elected.
Musk, while joking, also suggested leading a proposed “Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE)” under a Trump administration. He responded positively to a user who suggested the name for the ministry. Musk has been publicly supportive of Trump on social media.
Last week, Trump and Musk discussed various topics in an audio interview on X. Their conversation covered issues such as immigration, the economy, education, climate change, and international relations. They talked about leaders like North Korea’s Kim Jong Un, Russia’s Vladimir Putin, and China’s Xi Jinping in the context of the 2024 presidential election.

During the interview, Musk attempted to educate Trump, a climate change skeptic, on the dangers of greenhouse gases and the benefits of renewable energy. However, venture capitalist Vinod Khosla criticized Musk’s climate change tutorial, calling his views on CO2 levels and their impacts “dumb.”
Musk endorsed Trump against his Democratic rival, Vice President Kamala Harris. Trump discussed his perspective on illegal immigration and referenced an assassination attempt on him at an election rally. The interview’s broadcast was delayed due to a cyber attack.
Previously, Trump was permanently suspended from X, then known as Twitter, in January 2021. Musk lifted the ban after acquiring the platform.
