On Sunday night, 80 students fell ill from food poisoning at UP school named Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay Ashram Method Inter College in Mehroona village . The students experienced severe stomach pain, vomiting, and diarrhea after dinner.
The incident occurred shortly after the students had their evening meal. Officials reported the outbreak on Monday. District Magistrate Divya Mittal stated that the affected students are in stable condition. An investigation into the incident is currently underway.
Two students, Akash and Nitesh, are receiving treatment at Maharishi Devraha Baba Medical College. The rest of the students received initial care from a medical team led by the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) at the school. A medical team remains on-site as a precautionary measure to ensure no further complications arise.
District Magistrate Mittal, along with Superintendent of Police Sankalp Sharma, visited the medical college to check on the affected students. Mittal assured the public that authorities will take action against those found responsible for the food poisoning.

Assistant Commissioner of Food Safety Vinay Kumar Sahay revealed that the Food Safety and Drug Administration (FDA) team inspected the school’s kitchen and storage area. They collected seven samples, including prepared bread, lentils, vegetables, chili powder, chickpeas, mustard oil, and mixed pickles. These samples were collected in the presence of the school’s director, Rajkumar Gupta.

A notice has been issued regarding deficiencies in the storage and kitchen practices. Later, authorities sent collected samples to a food laboratory for testing. Further actions will depend on the test results.
The government-run Ashram school enrolls 326 students from classes six to twelve. After the meal on Sunday, symptoms began to appear in several students, including vomiting, diarrhea, stomach pain, dizziness, and chills. By Monday morning, around 80 students fell ill and shifted to a hospital for treatment.
Sub-Divisional Magistrate Vipin Kumar Dwivedi and Food Inspector Vipin Kumar Sahay also arrived at the scene to oversee the situation. Sahay noted that while most students suffered from food poisoning, infectious diseases affected a few. The Health Department has confirmed that all students are now in stable condition following treatment.
