ED Traces Fund Diversion Through Farm Lands In Bengal School Job Case

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) have successfully traced the small farm procurements-cum-marketing lands that were used to divert portion of money ascertained in Bengal school job case into small amounts.

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) have successfully traced the small farm procurements-cum-marketing lands that were used to divert portion of money ascertained in Bengal school job case into small amounts.

Sources said that the ED officials have identified 90 such procurement-cum-marketing entities that were used for fund diversion.

However, sources futher claimed that not all the amount but portion of the proceed was diverted using these entities. Only one crore was diverted using these entities, since the ED had confirmed that the matter involved the proceed amounting to 68 crore rupees.

According to sources, when central agency officials cross-checked these entities’ accounts, they discovered that smaller payments were occasionally made to them through commercial deals that were not recorded in the books of accounts.

The ED officers believe that the majority of the people operating these agricultural procurement-cum-marketing businesses were from the lower echelons of the commission-basis agent circles implicated in the scam, given the pitiful amounts of payments associated with them.

According to reports, this is specifically another avenue for money laundering that has come to light.

Multiple emails from the account of intermediary Prasanna Roy, who was detained, are allegedly linked to the payment of commissions to lower-level agents by these minor procurement/marketing firms.

The ED officials have seized residential houses and land plots that were either indirectly or jointly owned by Partha Chatterjee. Chatterjee is the former secretary general of the Trinamool Congress and West Bengal’s education minister. Chatterjee and associates are currently behind the bars in judicial custody for their alleged involvement in Bengal school job case.
