Hezbollah Gaza Truce Talks

Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah announced a conditional halt to attacks on Israel, contingent upon a ceasefire agreement for Gaza, during a televised speech honoring Mohammad Ni’mah Nasser, a senior party figure recently killed by Israeli forces in southern Lebanon.

Nasrallah’s statement, reported by Xinhua news agency, marks a significant shift in Hezbollah’s stance amidst ongoing regional tensions.

Addressing Israeli Defence Minister Yoav Gallant’s remarks on potential continued conflict in Lebanon post-Gaza ceasefire, Nasrallah reaffirmed Hezbollah’s commitment to defending Lebanon’s southern territories.

“Can an enemy unable to cease operations in Rafah and achieve meaningful gains contemplate an invasion beyond the Litani River in southern Lebanon?” Nasrallah challenged.

He reiterated Hezbollah’s support for Hamas, stressing that the group would uphold any decisions made by Hamas in ongoing negotiations with Israel.

“The brothers in Hamas speak for all resistance factions, and Hezbollah stands in solidarity with their decisions,” Nasrallah affirmed.

Nasrallah’s remarks come amidst renewed diplomatic efforts, with delegations from Egypt, the United States, Qatar, and Israel convening in Doha to resume discussions aimed at achieving a truce in Gaza.

The outcome of these talks however holds significant implications for regional stability and the prospects of cessation of hostilities.
