Tech magnate Elon Musk has voiced strong opposition to the collaboration between Apple and OpenAI, particularly concerning the integration of ChatGPT into iPhones.
In a recent social media post, Musk, known for his roles at Tesla and SpaceX, expressed fears that OpenAI’s association with Apple could potentially compromise his personal phone.
As per reports, OpenAI has expanded its board of directors to include Paul Nakasone, a former commander of US Cyber Command and director of the National Security Agency (NSA), prompted Musk’s concerns.
Nakasone, upon joining OpenAI, emphasized his role in safeguarding the company against sophisticated threats.
“Can’t wait for OpenAI to have access to my phone,” Musk commented on a popular social media platform.

The addition of Nakasone to OpenAI’s leadership team has sparked additional controversy, with Musk suggesting that the tech firm’s involvement in Apple’s operating system could lead to unacceptable security breaches.
Last week, Musk went so far as to threaten a ban on iPhones across all his companies if Apple proceeds with integrating OpenAI’s technologies deeply into their operating systems.
“If Apple integrates OpenAI at the OS level, then we’ll ban Apple devices at our companies,” Musk declared.

He added that visitors to his facilities may soon be required to deposit their Apple devices in Faraday cages upon entry. He underscored his commitment to maintaining stringent security protocols.
In response to these developments, Musk hinted at potential future collaborations, stating plans for an “X phone” in partnership with Samsung.
This move underscores Musk’s determination to explore alternative technology partnerships that align with his stringent security and privacy standards.
The situation continues to evolve as stakeholders in both the tech and security sectors closely monitor developments surrounding the integration of AI technologies into consumer devices.
