In a tragic turn of events, a leisure trip turned fatal as a car carrying 7 people plunged into a deep ditch in Uttarakhand’s Dehradun on Saturday. The accident left five people dead and one severely injured. The incident occurred near Pani Wala Band on Mussoorie Dehradun Marg, along Jhadipani Road in Uttarakhand.

Pramod Kumar, SP for the city stated that the car lost control while returning to Dehradun, leading to the fatal plunge. He further added that among the occupants were students from Dehradun IMS College, comprising four boys and two girls. Kumar said that the injured survivor, identified as Nancy, is currently undergoing treatment.
Meanwhile, Emergency response teams including Mussoorie Police, Fire Service, and the State Disaster Response Force reached the spot. The teams managed to rescue two girls from the ditch and rushed them to a hospital in Dehradun. This devastating accident comes in the wake of another road mishap in the region.
Rudraprayag: 1 dead, 1 injured After Vehicle Falls Into Gorge
Earlier on 22 April, a vehicle veered off the road and fell into a gorge in the Rudraprayag district of Uttar Pradesh. One person lost their life in that incident, while another sustained injuries. The accidents underscore the ongoing challenges of road safety in the hilly terrain.
The deceased was identified as Preetam Singh and the injured as Suraj Singh. Both were residents of Bhunka village, Rudraprayag.
