In response to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s recent remarks regarding the ongoing border crisis between India and China, Beijing has emphasized the significance of maintaining sound and stable ties between the two nations. Chinese spokesperson Mao Ning, when asked about PM Modi’s comments during a press briefing, stated that China has taken note of his remarks.

Mao Ning reiterated China’s stance that fostering positive relations between the two countries serves their mutual interests and contributes to regional and global peace and development. She emphasized that while the border issue is important, it should be viewed in the context of the broader bilateral relationship and managed appropriately.

Highlighting the ongoing communication between the two nations through diplomatic and military channels, Mao Ning expressed hope for continued progress in resolving the border disputes. She urged India to approach the bilateral relationship strategically and from a long-term perspective, focusing on building trust, dialogue, and cooperation.

In contrast, India has maintained that the normalization of relations with China depends on resolving the border situation. While China’s state-run media has interpreted Modi’s remarks as a gesture of goodwill amid ongoing talks to resolve the crisis, both nations continue to work towards a fair and mutually acceptable settlement to their border disputes.
