Addressing an election rally in Pilibhit, PM Modi criticized the Congress manifesto, likening it to that of the Muslim League. This comment follows the Congress’s complaint to the Election Commission over earlier remarks by PM Modi suggesting alignment between the Congress’s ideology and that of the Muslim League.

Ram Temple Construction

PM Modi emphasized the contributions of the people towards the construction of the grand Ram Temple in Ayodhya, where the Pran Pratishtha ceremony for the Ram Lalla idol was held on January 22. He condemned the INDIA alliance’s alleged aversion to the temple’s construction and criticized their rejection of the invitation to the ceremony.

Appeasement Politics

Accusing the Congress and the Samajwadi Party of opposing the Citizenship Amendment Act due to political appeasement, PM Modi questioned who would provide citizenship to persecuted minorities if not India.

Festival Greetings and Political Rally

PM Modi extended greetings on various festivals being celebrated across the country and marveled at the large turnout at the political rally amid the Chaitra Navratri festivities. He urged the attendees to support the BJP once again in the upcoming elections.

Pilibhit Election Dynamics

The BJP has nominated Uttar Pradesh Public Works Minister Jitin Prasada from Pilibhit, replacing Varun Gandhi, marking the first time since 1989 that a member of the Gandhi family is not contesting from the constituency. Prasada, a former Congress leader, joined the BJP in 2021.

Pilibhit is scheduled to vote in the first phase on April 19, setting the stage for a closely watched electoral contest in the region
