Senior Congress leader Jairam Ramesh asserted on Saturday that Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge inadvertently disclosed the alleged “Modi-Shah game plan” of intending to amend Article 371 of the Indian Constitution.
Kharge stirred controversy by mistakenly referring to Article 371 instead of Article 370 while discussing its abrogation. Union Home Minister Amit Shah swiftly capitalized on the error, remarking that such blunders by Congress have plagued the nation for decades.
Ramesh clarified Kharge’s statement, labeling it as a “slip of the tongue,” with the intent being to reference Article 370.

“Amit Shah promptly seized upon the Congress President’s remarks. However, the truth is that Modi indeed aims to amend Article 371-A concerning Nagaland, Article 371-B regarding Assam, Article 371-C regarding Manipur, Article 371-F regarding Sikkim, Article 371-G regarding Mizoram, and Article 371-H regarding Arunachal Pradesh,” claimed Ramesh.
“Interestingly, Kharge was primarily responsible for Article 371-J concerning the former Hyderabad-Karnataka region, which he managed to accomplish only after Dr. Manmohan Singh became PM,” he added.
“Amit Shah became excited and agitated because Kharge inadvertently revealed the Modi-Shah agenda on Article 371, now that they have dealt with Article 370,” the Congress general secretary remarked.

Amit Shah shared a video on his social media account on Saturday, where Mallikarjun Kharge, during a public rally in Jaipur, was heard mentioning, “They (the BJP) are coming here and saying that they removed 371. What does it have to do with the people here? It’s okay if you go and speak about that in Jammu and Kashmir.”
Responding to Kharge’s comments, Shah stated, “For the Congress’s information, it was not Article 371 but Article 370 that the Modi government abrogated. However, it is expected of Congress to make such egregious mistakes. Such errors by the party have plagued our nation for decades.”
