The Aam Aadmi Party on Tuesday called for a “gherao” at Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s residence. The protest came amid the arrest of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal in the liquor policy case.
Security around PM Modi’s residence at Lok Kalyan Marg has been increased. According to Delhi Police, they have not granted permission to the AAP to hold any protests.

AAP leader and Delhi Minister Saurabh Bharadwaj said, “Even from the ED custody, Delhi CM is worried about the health care of the state. He is worried that because he is jailed, the people of Delhi should not suffer because of it.”

Earlier on 22 March, AAP leader Gopal Rai said that the party would “gherao” the Prime Minister’s residence on 26 March to register its protest against Kejriwal’s arrest by ED.
The ED arrested Kejriwal on March 21 night in connection with the Delhi Excise Policy case linked to a money laundering case. Arvind Kejriwal was on March 22, remanded to the custody of the ED for 7 days, till 28 March 28.
Two senior AAP leaders, Manish Sisodia and Sanjay Singh, are in judicial custody in the excise policy case.
