A video of a heart-wrenching incident that took place in Karnataka is doing rounds on the internet. The clip shows a woman assaulting her 87-year-old father-in-law with a steel walking stick. The shocking episode took place on March 9 in Mangaluru.
The CCTV footage circulating online reveals the brutal attack on the victim, identified as Padmanabha Suvarna. He is an elderly resident of Mangaluru who can be seen getting beaten by his daughter-in-law, Uma Shankari, in Kulshekar. Uma is seen wielding a walking stick, repeatedly striking the elderly man during a heated argument. Despite the elderly man pleading for mercy, Uma violently pushes him to the ground, causing him to fall beside a sofa.
Subsequently, Uma briefly leaves the room but returns, contemplating another assault. Ultimately, she refrains from further violence, placing the stick back and exiting the room with the elderly man still on the floor.

The severe assault left the elderly victim injured, and he is currently undergoing treatment at a private hospital.
Uma Shankari, employed as an officer with the Karnataka Electricity Board (KEB) at Attavar, was apprehended following a complaint filed by the victim’s daughter. According to an India Today report, she has been remanded to judicial custody for 14 days. It is noted that the victim’s son, who is married to the accused, is working abroad.
