BJP Secures 6 Lok Sabha and 10 Assembly Seats in Andhra Poll Pact with TDP and JSP

Pawan Kalyan’s Jana Sena Party (JSP) received two Lok Sabha seats and 21 assembly seats under the pact.

In a lengthy deliberation held in Amaravati on Monday, the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) partners in Andhra Pradesh reached an agreement on the allocation of seats for the upcoming Lok Sabha and Assembly elections. According to the arrangement, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) secured six Lok Sabha and 10 assembly seats, while N Chandrababu Naidu’s Telugu Desam Party (TDP) will contest for 17 parliamentary and 144 state seats. Pawan Kalyan’s Jana Sena Party (JSP) received two Lok Sabha seats and 21 assembly seats under the pact.

Andhra Pradesh, with 25 Lok Sabha and 175 assembly seats, witnessed the return of TDP to the NDA coalition after discussions between BJP leaders, including Union Home Minister Amit Shah and party president JP Nadda, and former Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu in Delhi on Saturday. Another meeting in Amaravati on Monday, attended by Union Minister Gajendra Singh Shekawat, BJP national vice president Baijayant Panda, TDP chief Naidu, and JSP president Pawan Kalyan, finalized the seat-sharing formula.

In a joint statement released Monday night, the NDA partners expressed their commitment to the progress and development of Andhra Pradesh and the welfare of its people, as well as to the advancement of the nation on the global stage. The statement emphasized the aim to allocate seats in a manner that truly represents the aspirations of the people of Andhra Pradesh.

The specific seat allocations will be announced later by the respective parties. Naidu, in announcing the seat-sharing formula, expressed optimism about the alliance’s potential to lead Andhra Pradesh towards a brighter future. He urged the people of Andhra Pradesh to support the alliance and grant them a historic mandate to serve the state.
