Mahua Moitra expelled from Lok Sabha once again!
After TMC leader Mahua Moitra failed to appear for her summon on Monday, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) summoned her again and expelled her from the Lok Sabha to question her in a FEMA contravention case, according to sources.
Moitra to be questioned in FEMA
The 49-year-old lawmaker, who expressed in a letter to the agency that she was unable to step down, was given a week to make her appearance, they said. The politician for the Trinamool Congress (TMC) did not immediately have an answer available.
After Moitra is deposed, the ED wants to question her and record her statement in accordance with the Foreign Exchange Management Act (FEMA). Aside from a few other foreign remittances and fund transfers, the agency is investigating transactions connected to a non-resident external (NRE) account, according to the sources.

Series of cases going against Moitra
The CBI is also investigating Moitra; it is carrying out an initial probe into the accusations made against her based on the Lokpal’s referral. In exchange for gifts, businessman Darshan Hiranandani allegedly asked Moitra to pose questions in the Lok Sabha that were directed towards the Adani group and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, according to BJP MP Nishikant Dubey.
Additionally, he had charged Moitra with jeopardizing national security in order to gain monetary benefits for herself. Moitra has denied any misconduct and asserted that she was singled out because she questioned the Adani group’s business dealings.
“Neither has Lok Pal uploaded any referral order on website as per Lokpal Act & nor has CBI put out anything official. “Sources” telling journos as per usual media circus. Hope ₹13,000 crore Adani coal scam merits CBI PE before my witchhunt,” Moitra had said on X in November.
