Bihar CM Nitish Kumar meets Prime Minister Narendra Modi
Days after joining the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) and forming a government in the state with the BJP, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar met Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday in Delhi. Kumar and the Prime Minister met for the first time since he changed sides on January 28. Additionally, it occurs five days before the Bihar Assembly’s trust vote that is to take place on 12th February.

There’s a lot going on in NDA
PTI reports that during his travel to the nation’s capital, the head of Janata Dal (United) is also scheduled to meet with other prominent members of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), such as Union Home Minister, Amit Shah and BJP National President, JP Nadda.
Samrat Choudhary and Vijay Kumar Sinha, the deputy chief ministers for Bihar, met with the Prime Minister earlier on Monday. The two of them travelled to Delhi following the portfolio distribution in the nine-member Bihar cabinet, whose expansion is still pending.

Discussions between Bihar CM and India PM
JD(U) sources stated that Nitish Kumar’s meeting with top BJP leaders and PM Modi may cover matters related to the state’s Rajya Sabha elections, report PTI. Bihar has six open Rajya Sabha seats; elections are set for February 27 to fill these seats.
BJP and RJD will each gain two seats and JD(U) will get one in the Bihar Legislative Assembly, according to the figures. If there were a joint candidate, the RJD-led Grand Alliance would have the numbers to secure the sixth seat, but no other party would be able to do so on its own.
Two of the six seats up for elections are held by JD(U), formerly occupied by Aneel Hegde and former president Bashishth Narayan Singh. RJD leaders Manoj Kumar Jha and Misa Bharti occupied two other seats. One is with the Congress, led by Akhilesh Prasad Singh, the state unit president, and the left one seat is with the BJP (Sushil Kumar Modi).
But the new math in the legislature’s electoral college now delivers one to JD(U) and two to the BJP. In Bihar, a candidate seeking election to the Rajya Sabha must receive the first preference votes of thirty-five legislators.
