A statewide cleanliness campaign was started on Sunday by the Uttar Pradesh government and several organisations. It will run until January 22, which is the day of the Ayodhya Ram temple’s consecration ceremony.
Yogi Adityanath, the chief minister of Uttar Pradesh, participated in the campaign in Ayodhya, while other ministers and public figures participated in other locations.
“On the call of respected Prime Minister Shri @narendramodi ji, a major cleanliness campaign was started from Shri Ayodhya Dham today. On this occasion, vehicles related to garbage disposal and cleanliness were also flagged off. We are dedicated to keeping the divinity and sanctity of Navya Ayodhya intact,” the chief minister posted on X.
In his speech on December 30, Prime Minister Narendra Modi urged the people of Ayodhya to commit to making their city the cleanest in all of India.
“This is the responsibility of the residents of Ayodhya.” Additionally, he had asked everyone to organize a nationwide cleaning campaign at all temples and places of worship between January 14 and January 22.

Keshav Prasad Maurya, the deputy chief minister of Uttar Pradesh, participated in the campaign by cleaning the Balkeshwar Hanuman Temple in Nirala Nagar, Lucknow. Maurya gathered trash, swept the floor, and loaded it onto a cart.
He urged everyone to take part in this cleaning initiative. Brajesh Pathak, another deputy chief minister, took part in the cleaning campaign at the Dakshin Mukhi Hanuman Temple in Lucknow. Leaders of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) also participated in the campaign in various regions of the state.
In Mirzapur, a cleanliness campaign was started by Maa Vindhyavasini Devi Dham and Ashtabhuja Temple, in which MLA Ratnakar Mishra along with District Magistrate Priyanka Niranjan participated. In addition, 209 additional temples and places of worship in the district held cleanliness drives, in which the general public enthusiastically participated.

According to Niranjan, from January 14 to January 22, bhajan kirtan and cultural events will be held in the district’s main temples to promote the moral, social, and humanitarian values of Lord Shri Ram among the populace.
