Goldy Brar
The Ministry of Home Affairs has designated Canada-based gangster Goldy Brar as a terrorist under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA). Brar took credit for the bold assassination of Indian rap star and Congress politician, Sidhu Moosewala.
Goldy Brar, also known as Satinderjit Singh, migrated to Canada in 2017 on a student visa and has since orchestrated criminal activities, including murders and extortion, from abroad. A close associate of gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, Brar has now been associated with the pro-Khalistan terrorist group Babbar Khalsa, as per an official notification from the Indian government.
The notification outlined Brar’s involvement in multiple killings, his adherence to radical ideologies, and his role in making threatening calls to pro-nationalist leaders. Additionally, he has been implicated in smuggling high-grade arms, ammunition, and explosive materials across the border using drones for his violent activities.
The Centre accuses Brar of conspiring to disrupt the peace, communal harmony, and law and order in Punjab through actions such as sabotage, establishing terror modules, carrying out targeted killings, and engaging in other anti-national activities. Last year, a red-corner notice to INTERPOL was issued against him.
The Central Government believes that Satwinder Singh alias Goldy Brar is involved in terrorism and has proposed adding him to the Fourth Schedule of the UAPA. Brar had claimed responsibility for the 2022 murder of singer Sidhu Moosewala in Punjab’s Mansa, and he was identified as the mastermind in the 1,850-page chargesheet filed in the case.

In a social media post, Brar asserted that he orchestrated the singer’s murder as retribution for the killing of student leader Vicky Middukhera. The designation as a terrorist under UAPA is a significant move by Indian authorities to address the transnational criminal activities orchestrated by individuals residing abroad.
