Former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, instrumental in securing a significant victory for the BJP in the recent assembly elections, met with BJP National President Jagat Prakash Nadda in New Delhi. This meeting fueled speculation about Chouhan’s potential new role in the party, especially in light of the upcoming 2024 Lok Sabha elections.

Addressing reporters post-meeting, Chouhan emphasized his commitment as a party worker, expressing readiness to undertake any role entrusted to him by the party. The veteran politician assured his continued active presence both in his state and at the national level, hinting at an expanded role in Indian politics.

Notably, both Nadda and Union Home Minister Amit Shah have previously emphasized Chouhan’s significance within the party, indicating an impending substantial role for him. Following the assembly election results, where Chouhan’s leadership led to the BJP’s triumph, he was replaced by Mohan Yadav as Chief Minister—a surprising decision that raised eyebrows.

In a statement reflecting his humility, Chouhan asserted that he would “rather die” than seek personal gain from the party. The four-term MP Chief Minister reaffirmed his dedication to executing any task assigned by the Bharatiya Janata Party. Chouhan served two terms as Chief Minister, from November 2005 to December 2018 and again from March 2020 to December 2023. Despite a setback in the 2018 state elections, he played a pivotal role in the BJP’s return to power in 2020 following a split in the ruling Congress.

Chouhan highlighted the selfless nature of his commitment to the BJP’s mission, emphasizing that the party assigns tasks based on merit rather than individual aspirations. The 64-year-old leader’s words underscored his focus on collective goals over personal interests.
