In the midst of the Israel-Hamas conflict, the Congress organized an event in Kozhikode on Thursday to show support for the Palestinian people. Leading members of the Congress, such as KC Venugopal and Shashi Tharoor, attended the function.
There is a claim that because assembly elections are taking place, Congress is not discussing the Israel-Palestine conflict. I would like to make it clear that Sonia Gandhi published an opinion piece on October 30 regarding the Israel-Palestine conflict during the election campaign, and Priyanka Gandhi also discussed the matter during the campaign,” Tharoor stated at the gathering.
“India’s ten-year-old foreign policy is at odds with the Modi government’s approach. A resolution on the humanitarian ceasefire in the Israel-Gaza conflict was approved by the UN General Assembly. Not one voter from Mahatma Gandhi’s nation supported it. We did not cast a ballot,” the congressman continued.
“We declare in our resolution that we support Palestine. In order to free Palestine, we must back the negotiations. According to Venugopal, who was cited by ANI, India abstained from voting on the UN resolution calling for a truce that might result in an end to hostilities between Israel and Hamas.
Over 50,000 Congress workers attended the rally, according to a statement released by K. Sudhakaran, the chief of the Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC).
According to Sudhakaran, “all secular, democratic believers will attend the Congress-led rally at Kozhikode Beach on November 23,” the PTI reported.
The Congress gathering took place a few days after a sizable demonstration in support of the Palestinian people was organized by the ruling Communist Party of India (Marxist) on November 11.
The Indian Union Muslim League, a former ally of Congress, also staged a sizable demonstration in Kozhikode. IUML leader Panakkad Syed Sadiq Ali Shihab Thangal opened the Palestine Solidarity Human Rights demonstration, which drew tens of thousands of supporters.
One of the Congress Working Committee members, Tharoor, was also present at the demonstration. “This may be one of the biggest political protests in support of peace and human rights that we have witnessed in India, if not the entire world. This is a peace demonstration.
