S Sreesanth charged in ₹ 18.7 lakh cheating case by Kerala man

Based on a complaint from a man in Kannur district, north Kerala, the police have filed a cheating case against cricketer S Sreesanth and two others.

A resident of Choonda, the complainant claimed that Rajiv Kumar and Venkatesh Kini, the accused, had stolen ₹ 18.70 lakh on several occasions beginning on April 25, 2019, on the pretense that they would establish a sports academy in Kollur, Karnataka, where cricket player Sreesanth is a partner.

Sareesh Gopalan claimed in his complaint that he invested the funds after being given the chance to join the academy as a partner.

Charges under IPC Section 420 (cheating and dishonestly inducing delivery of property) have been brought against Sreesanth and the other two individuals.

Sreesanth has been named as the third accused in the case.
