Job for Land Case: CBI extends ED custody for Laloo Yadav's associate Amit Katyal until November 22

During the district judge’s court hearing, Amit Katyal has been ordered to remain in ED custody until November 22. Amit Katyal was arrested by the ED, and today, the ED requested an interrogation while he is in custody.

In the Rouse Avenue Court, Katyal’s lawyer, Ramesh Gupta, argued that his client has several health issues and, if necessary, should be kept in judicial custody rather than ED custody. After spending the initial five days in custody, Katyal’s custody has now been extended. According to the court, ED stated that Amit Katyal is not an accused in the CBI case but was the director of the company. The ED mentioned that during the investigation, Amit Katyal has named several individuals, and summonses have been issued to them.

ED Statement

ED stated in court that Katyal’s arrest is valid, and the court raised a question about whether an MP/MLA court should be involved in such cases. ED emphasized that they are seeking the accused’s ED custody in this matter. On the other hand, Amit Katyal’s lawyer stated that CBI is a witness in this case, and they are not aware of why he was arrested and why there is a demand for custody.

Amit Katyal’s lawyer argued

Amit Katyal’s lawyer argued that he is neither a Member of Parliament nor a legislator, and in the CBI case, he is a witness. Amit Katyal stated through his lawyer, “My arrest is illegal, as I have been made a witness in the CBI case. I don’t know why I was arrested, and why there is a demand for custody.”

Police Remand is for Murder Cases – Katyal’s Lawyer

Amit Katyal’s lawyer stated that he could be called for regular questioning, and there is no need for his arrest. The lawyer questioned the intention behind Katyal’s arrest, emphasizing that he is not the main accused, and it is known who benefited from this. The lawyer argued that the police remand is for murder cases, where weapon recovery is required, which is not necessary in this case.

Send  Case to MP/MLA Court

Meanwhile, ED’s lawyer stated that Katyal’s arrest has been made based on their investigation findings. ED suggested sending the case to the MP/MLA court. The district judge sent the case for a hearing in the MP/MLA court, specifically to Judge Geetanjali Goel’s court.
