What Is This 10 Second Groping Video Trend? Know Eerie The Reason Behind

Recently, people of Italy are following a very weird trend where they are touching their private parts while keeping a timer of 10 seconds. It is a little uneasy for people to watch such videos. Many highly influential people have taken part in the 10 second groping video trend and apparently, they are supporting a cause. But why are they doing it? It is because of a recent verdict from Italian Court.

What is this 10 second groping video trend

In a recent verdict pronounced by a court of law in Italy, they said that groping for less than ’10 seconds’ is not a crime. The court said it ‘did not last long enough’ to be deemed criminal. This came after a teenager filed a case against a caretaker from her school who touched her inappropriately and then termed it as a joke.

This is a case of April from the last year, when a 66 year-old-man, Antonio Avola the caretaker in question groped a 17-year-old student from Rome high school. The caretaker even admitted that he did the same but said that he was only joking. “Love, you know I was joking,” the caretaker had told the girl when she reacted in shock.

Although, the court has pronounced a nearly four-year prison sentence and a sexual assault conviction for the caretaker.

The Protest is growing stronger

One of the first persons to react aggressively and post videos was the Italian actor Paolo Camilli. Palpata breve, or a quick groping, has been popular in Italy since the verdict, coupled with the hashtag #10secondi on Instagram and TikTok.

Influencer Francesco Cicconetti wrote on TikTok, “Who decides that 10 seconds is not a long time? Who times the seconds, while you’re being harassed?

“Men don’t have the right to touch women’s bodies, not even for a second – let alone 5 or 10.”
