US President Donald Trump Nears Decision On Next Federal Reserve Chair On Global Market Watch

US President Donald Trump has revealed that he is nearing a decision on the next chair of the Federal Reserve, stating that he is interviewing a small group of candidates and expects to announce his choice in the coming weeks.

When asked about the number of contenders, Trump said, “We’re talking to three or four. I think every one of them would be a good choice, honestly. We’ll be making a decision pretty quickly.”

President Trump highlighted two potential appointees during remarks to reporters. Federal Reserve Governor Christopher Waller said, “I think he’s great. I mean, he’s been a man who’s been there a long time, somebody that I was very involved with in the sense of his career. And he’s a fantastic man.”

On Governor Michelle Bowman, Trump commented, “She’s fantastic. She’s a fantastic person.”

He, however, did not indicate a clear preference or reveal the specific criteria guiding his selection.

Announcement Timing

When pressed on timing, Trump suggested the decision would come ‘over the next couple of weeks’, adding, ‘I mean, I don’t know before the end of the year, but pretty soon’.

Markets are closely monitoring these developments due to the Fed chair’s central role in shaping US monetary policy.
