UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak ready for his two day visit to war struck Israel

As one of many international leaders who have made a personal effort to stop the situation from escalating, UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak is ready to start a two-day visit to Israel and the surrounding area. Sunak is scheduled to arrive early on Thursday and meet with Israeli leaders Benjamin Netanyahu and Isaac Herzog before traveling to “a number of other regional capitals,” according to a statement from his office sent via email on Wednesday. The administration declined to specify which other nations might be on his travel schedule.

Israel gets aid from all around the globe

Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, the president of Egypt, has agreed to transport as many as 20 truckloads of aid into the Gaza Strip, according to Vice President Joe Biden. Israel’s administration had previously stated that it would permit Egypt to send humanitarian aid into southern Gaza as long as it was certain that none of it would be transferred to Hamas.

After his visit to Israel, Sisi gave Biden the assurance during a phone chat, Biden told reporters on board Air Force One during a refueling stop in Germany on Wednesday. However, Biden also pledged $100 million in US humanitarian aid for citizens of Gaza and the West Bank. Earlier, Biden said he would ask Congress this week for “unprecedented support” for Israel as it gets ready to smash Hamas. Additionally, he said that the Pentagon had given him proof that Israel was not to blame for the tragic blast that occurred at a hospital in Gaza City on Tuesday night.

Rishi Sunak to visit Israel

Sunak’s visit comes after those of Biden on Wednesday and German Chancellor Olaf Scholz on Tuesday. Emmanuel Macron, the president of France, has stated that he will visit the area “as soon as I consider that we have a useful agenda and very concrete actions to drive forward.”

Biden to discuss Israel in Oval office

Biden will deliver a speech from the Oval Office on Thursday night “to discuss our response to Hamas’ terrorist attacks against Israel and Russia’s ongoing brutal war against Ukraine,” the White House said in a statement on Wednesday.

After a brief trip to Israel, Biden was on his way back to Washington. According to those with knowledge of the situation, he is considering a $100 billion supplemental request to Congress that would pay border security, provide aid to countries in the Indo-Pacific, including Taiwan, and include defense assistance for Israel and the Ukraine.

According to congressional aides and a US official, Boeing Co. is hastening the delivery of up to 1,800 kits that turn unguided bombs into precision weapons to Israel.

JDAM kits, or Joint Attack Direct Munition, were promised as part of a 2021 agreement valued about $735 million. They had been scheduled for delivery over a number of years, but that timeline has now been compressed. The kits are designed for bombs that weigh at least 500 pounds (227 kilograms).
