UAE President and PM Modi express “deep concerns” about terrorism and casualties in the Israel-Hamas conflict

Along with discussing the tragic conflict between Israel and Hamas, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and UAE President Mohamed bin Zayed expressed their “deep concerns” about terrorism and the deaths of people in the region. The two leaders spoke over the phone, exchanging opinions about the events in the West Asian region and urging an early resolution of the security and humanitarian crisis.

“Had a great discussion about the situation in West Asia with my brother, HH @MohamedBinZayed, President of the United Arab Emirates. We are both extremely concerned about the rise in terrorism, the deteriorating state of security, and the deaths of civilians. PM Modi posted on X, formerly known as Twitter, saying, “We agree on the need for an early resolution of the security and humanitarian situation and that a durable regional peace, security, and stability is in everyone’s interest.”

Earlier, PM Modi assured humanitarian aid and reiterated India’s long-standing fundamental position on the Israel-Palestine conflict in talks with both President Mahmoud Abbas of Palestine and his Israeli counterpart, Benjamin Netanyahu. In addition, he had voiced surprise and worry at the number of civilian casualties following reports that an attack on a Gaza hospital had claimed thousands of lives.
Israel has been hitting the Hamas organisation hard in retaliation for its members’ October 7 onslaught, which resulted in the deaths of at least 1,400 people. As per the Gaza health ministry, the Israeli strikes have resulted in the deaths of at least 9,227 Palestinians, out of which 3,826 are children.
