Two people dead in US hospital shooting including suspect

On Friday, authorities stated that a shooter opened fire on a psychiatric hospital in the northeastern US state of New Hampshire, killing one person before being fatally shot by police.

According to the state police Colonel Mark Hall, the suspect entered the New Hampshire Hospital in Concord and shot one person in the lobby.

“A state trooper assigned to the hospital and in close proximity immediately engaged, shot, and killed the suspect”, Mark Hall said during a press conference, adding that the attack was limited to the hospital lobby.

Hall made no mention of the shooter or the victim.

“There is no threat to the public, and there was no threat to the patients or staff at the hospital”, Hall added.

The New Hampshire Hospital, located in Concord, is a 185-bed inpatient facility that treats patients with acute mental illness.

Shootings are all too prevalent in the United States, a country with more guns than people and where attempts to limit their availability are always met with vehement opposition.
