Gautam Gambhir selects India’s “Biggest Gamechanger” for the world cup, its not Kohli, Sharma, Bumrah

Shreyas Iyer received high praise from former Indian cricketer Gautam Gambhir, who said that he will be the biggest game-changer for him in the ongoing ODI World Cup 2023. Speaking at Star Sports, Gambhir claimed that Iyer had to battle for his spot after bouncing back from an injury before smashing a century in 70 balls during the tournament’s elimination phase. When Glenn Maxwell and Adam Zampa of Australia bowl in the championship game, he continued, the Indian middle-order hitter will be crucial to the team.

“In my opinion, Shreyas Iyer has changed the game the most this World Cup. It’s amazing that he was able to score a century in the knockout round in just 70 balls, considering that he had to fight for his spot due to injury. When Maxwell and Zampa bowl in the championship game, he’ll be crucial for India, according to Gambhir.

As the first middle-order batsman to score 500 runs or more in a single edition of the ICC Cricket World Cup, Shreyas Iyer created history on Wednesday.

Iyer has amassed 526 runs at an average of 75.14 and a strike rate of over 113 in this tournament thus far. With a best score of 128*, he has amassed two hundreds and three fifty-five runs. The batter is the tournament’s fifth-highest run scorer.

Shreyas broke numerous records and extended his unbeaten run in one-day international cricket when he hit his second consecutive century in the tournament during the semifinal match against New Zealand.

India and Australia will play in the ODI World Cup 2023 final on Sunday at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
