US President Donald Trump has said the military campaign against Iran would end soon, while warning that a Democratic victory in November’s midterm elections could trigger an economic depression.
Addressing a Republican rally in Dalton, Georgia, Trump defended his foreign policy, military operations and economic record. He urged voters to treat the November 3 elections as a referendum on his presidency.
“We’re doing just as well in Iran. That will be over very, very soon and they will never have a nuclear weapon,” Trump told supporters.
He claimed US strikes had destroyed Iran’s military capabilities, including 159 naval vessels and 289 aircraft. These figures could not be independently verified.
Trump defended the campaign, citing concerns about Iran’s nuclear ambitions, while acknowledging its impact on energy prices.
Trump claimed US military operations in Venezuela had achieved their objectives within 48 hours. He said Washington was now benefiting from Venezuelan oil resources, describing the development as a major economic gain.
He further claimed that his administration had reached an agreement with Denmark concerning Greenland but provided no details. Trump also joked about renaming the Strait of Hormuz after himself.
Turning to the economy, Trump claimed that investments exceeding $21 trillion had been secured in 15 months. He credited tariffs with attracting manufacturers and cited gains in employment, exports and stock market performance.
Trump renewed his proposal to distribute $5,000 to every adult American citizen if Republicans controlled both chambers of Congress, estimating a cost of $1 trillion without outlining a funding plan.
He attacked Democratic candidates, defended immigration enforcement and urged Republicans to maximise turnout.
The November 3 elections will determine control of Congress and shape Trump’s legislative agenda for the remainder of his term.
